Reinforcing bar (Rebar)

For any reinforcement needs within concrete slabs, foundations, walls, structures, bridges, roads & paths, plinths or blocks.  It’s designed to acheive greater loads and help prevent cracking versus no metal reinforcement.  It protects against bending, torsion, tension and shearing.

Unlike mild steel for example, rebar doesn’t usually come with a light coating of oil on that is applied to prevent rusting which occurs immediately after manufacture.  If any oil was on rebar it would influence adhesion to concrete and need cleaning off before use.  Because of this and that it’s open when on ships and at stock yards it has surface rust.  This isn’t an issue at all as surface rust is exactly that and correct installation dictates a minimum covering of concrete around it to stop oxygen getting to it.
